Even amid impending conflict, human relationships and moral awareness persist; yet choices are constrained by prior commitments. The verse highlights the ethical weight of allegiance and the sorrow that can accompany decisions made in the shadow of dharma and destiny.
After speaking to Kṛṣṇa, Karṇa embraces him in a moment of emotional strain. Kṛṣṇa then gives him leave, and Karṇa steps down from the back of the chariot, marking the end of their exchange and a return to the course leading toward war.
