Gaṅgātīra encounter begins
sañjaya uvāca | yudhiṣṭhiro mayā dṛṣṭo grasamāno vasundharām | tvayā dattām imāṃ vyakta bhokṣyate sa vasundharām ||

Moral and political legitimacy ultimately follows dharma: the one aligned with righteousness is portrayed as destined to possess and govern the realm, even if power is temporarily held by others.
Sanjaya reports a vision/observation in which Yudhiṣṭhira appears to ‘swallow the earth,’ a symbolic omen indicating that Yudhiṣṭhira will ultimately gain sovereignty over the land—specifically the very kingdom said to have been ‘given’ by the listener.
