Educational Q&A

Anger and wounded pride can drive impulsive, harmful decisions in public and political life; therefore elders grounded in dharma must intervene with counsel aimed at restraint, responsibility, and the welfare of the kingdom.

In the royal assembly, Duryodhana, enraged, stands up and begins to leave with his brothers. Observing this, Bhīṣma prepares to address him—signaling an attempt to check Duryodhana’s course through admonition and dharmic guidance.
