Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical power of restored family unity: even rulers are moved to joyful tears when rightful bonds are renewed, suggesting that reconciliation and shared kinship are dharmic goods worth honoring, especially before violence becomes inevitable.

Vaiśampāyana describes a scene where the addressed person is seen reunited with the Pāṇḍavas; witnessing this, assembled kings are expected to shed tears of joy, marking the emotional impact of the meeting within the tense Udyoga Parva context.
