ययातिपतनम् — Yayāti’s Fall and the Offer of Dharma
Nārada’s Account
एवं विचारयन्तस्ते राजानं स्वर्गवासिन: । दृष्टवा पप्रच्छुरन्योन्यं ययातिं नृपतिं प्रति,इस प्रकार विचार करते हुए स्वर्गवासी ययातिके विषयमें एक-दूसरेकी ओर देखकर प्रश्न करने लगे
evaṁ vicārayantas te rājānaṁ svargavāsinaḥ | dṛṣṭvā papracchur anyonyaṁ yayātiṁ nṛpatiṁ prati ||
یوں غور کرتے ہوئے اہلِ سُورگ ایک دوسرے کی طرف دیکھ کر راجا یَیاتی کے بارے میں باہم سوال کرنے لگے۔
नारद उवाच
Moral status—even in heaven—is subject to scrutiny and causality: merit and conduct invite evaluation, and ethical reasoning begins with inquiry and reflection rather than assumption.
Nārada describes how the celestial dwellers, after deliberating among themselves, turn to mutual questioning about King Yayāti, indicating a moment of collective investigation into his situation and its moral basis.
