Duryodhana Seen in Heaven
Triviṣṭapa
etad icchāmy ahaṃ śrotuṃ sarvavic cāsi me mataḥ | maharṣiṇābhyanujñāto vyāsenād्भutakarmaṇā ||
The verse highlights the ethical basis of learning: true narration should be sought from a qualified speaker who stands in an authorized lineage. Janamejaya grounds his request in trust—knowledge is credible when it is received through proper permission and responsibility, here linked to Vyāsa’s sanction.
Janamejaya, continuing his inquiry, asks to hear the full account. He expresses confidence in the narrator’s omniscience because the narrator has been granted permission/commission by the sage Vyāsa, thereby legitimizing the forthcoming telling of events in the Svargārohaṇa episode.
