abhirūpaiḥ kule jātair dakṣair bhaktir bahuśrutaiḥ | sarvā buddhīḥ parīkṣethās tāpasāśramiṇām api ||
اُتَتھْیَ نے کہا—خوب صورت، شریف النسب، کاردان، بادشاہ کے وفادار اور کثیرالعلم وزیروں کی صحبت اختیار کرو؛ اور زاہدوں اور آشرم میں رہنے والوں کے بھی تمام افکار، نیتوں اور فہم و فراست کو اچھی طرح پرکھو۔
उतथ्य उवाच
A ruler should choose close advisers with good qualities—competence, learning, loyalty, and good conduct—and should not accept anyone’s counsel untested; even ascetics and hermitage-dwellers must be evaluated for sound judgment and true intent.
