Mantri-Parīkṣā — Testing Ministers, Securing Counsel, and Ethical Criteria for Advisers (अध्याय ८४)
कुलीन: पूजितो नित्यं न हि शक्ति निगूहति,जो कुलीन हो, जिसका सदा सम्मान किया जाय, जो अपनी शक्तिको छिपावे नहीं तथा राजा प्रसन्न हो या अप्रसन्न हो, पीड़ित हो अथवा हताहत हो, प्रत्येक अवस्थामें जो बारंबार उसका अनुसरण करता हो, वही सुहृद् होने योग्य है
bhīṣma uvāca | kulīnaḥ pūjito nityaṃ na hi śaktiṃ nigūhati | rājā prasanno vāprasanno vā pīḍito vā hatahato vā | sarvāsv avasthāsu yaḥ punaḥ punaḥ tam anusarati sa eva suhṛd bhavitum arhati ||
بھیشم نے کہا—جو شریف النسب ہو، جس کی ہمیشہ تعظیم کی جائے، جو اپنی صلاحیت نہ چھپائے، اور بادشاہ خوش ہو یا ناخوش، مصیبت زدہ ہو یا زخمی—ہر حالت میں جو بار بار اس کے ساتھ رہے اور اس کی پیروی کرے؛ وہی حقیقی سُہرد (مخلص دوست) کہلانے کے لائق ہے۔
