ऋत्विग्धर्मः, दक्षिणा-न्यायः, तपसः परमार्थः

भीष्म उवाच न वेदानां परिभवाजन्न शाठ्येन न मायया । कश्चिन्महदवाप्रोति मा ते5भूद् बुद्धिरीदूशी,भीष्मजीने कहा--युधिष्ठिर! वेदोंकी निन्दा करनेसे, शठतापूर्ण बर्तावसे तथा छल- कपटसे कोई भी महान् पद नहीं पाता है; अतः तुम्हारी बुद्धि ऐसी न हो
bhīṣma uvāca | na vedānāṁ paribhavāj jan na śāṭhyena na māyayā | kaścin mahad avāpnoti mā te ’bhūd buddhir īdṛśī ||
بھیشم نے کہا—اے یُدھِشٹھِر! نہ ویدوں کی توہین سے، نہ عیّاری سے، نہ فریب و مکر سے کوئی عظمت پاتا ہے۔ پس تیری سمجھ اس سمت نہ مڑے۔
