Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
हसन्ति च मनुष्याणां स्वरवर्णमनांस्युत । व्याधयश्व भवन्त्यत्र प्रियन्ते च गतायुष:,मनुष्योंके स्वर, वर्ण और मन मलिन हो जाते हैं। सबको रोग-व्याधि सताने लगती है और लोग अल्पायु होकर छोटी अवस्थामें ही मरने लगते हैं
hasanti ca manuṣyāṇāṃ svaravarṇamanāṃsy uta | vyādhayaś ca bhavanty atra priyante ca gatāyuṣaḥ ||
بھیشم نے کہا—ایسی حالت میں انسانوں کی آواز، رنگت اور حتیٰ کہ ان کے دل و دماغ بھی آلودہ اور کمزور ہو جاتے ہیں۔ یہاں بیماریاں اور آفتیں اٹھ کھڑی ہوتی ہیں اور انہیں ستاتی ہیں؛ عمر گھٹ جانے سے لوگ جوانی ہی میں مرنے لگتے ہیں۔
