Adhyāya 42 (Śānti Parva): Śrāddha, Aurdhvadaihika Rites, and Royal Welfare Measures
ट्रुपदद्रौपदेयानां द्रौपद्या सहितो ददौ । युधिष्ठिरने द्रौधदीको साथ लेकर आचार्य द्रोण, महामना कर्ण, धृष्टद्युम्न, अभिमन्यु, राक्षस घटोत्कच, विराट आदि उपकारी सुहृद, द्रुपद तथा द्रौपदीकुमारोंका श्राद्ध किया ।। ३ -+४३ || ब्राह्मणानां सहस्राणि पृथगेकैकमुद्दिशन्
drupadadraupadeyānāṁ draupadyā sahito dadau | brāhmaṇānāṁ sahasrāṇi pṛthagekaikam uddiśan ||
یُدھِشٹھِر نے دروپدی کے ساتھ دُرپد اور دروپدی کے بیٹوں کے لیے شاستر وِدھی کے مطابق شرادھ اور دان کیا؛ اور ہزاروں برہمنوں کو ایک ایک کے نام سے جدا جدا نذر کیا۔
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even after victory, dharma requires accountability: honoring the departed through proper rites and sustaining the righteous social order through charitable giving. The verse frames śrāddha and dāna as means of ethical repair and inner pacification after violence.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira, together with Draupadī, performs offerings dedicated to Drupada and Draupadī’s sons, distributing gifts to thousands of Brāhmaṇas, each dedication made separately for the intended deceased.
