Nāga-āyatana-darśana-pratīkṣā — The Brāhmaṇa’s Request and Waiting on the Gomatī
पीठयोश्वोपविष्टौ तौ कृतातिथ्याद्विकौ नृप । तेषु तत्रोपविष्टेषु स देशोडभिव्यराजत
pīṭhayoś copaviṣṭau tau kṛtātithyādvikau nṛpa | teṣu tatropaviṣṭeṣu sa deśo 'bhivyarājata ||
اے راجن! مہمان نوازی کے آداب بجا لانے کے بعد وہ دونوں نشستوں پر بیٹھ گئے۔ جب وہ وہاں بیٹھے تو ان کی ہیبت و جلال اور مہمان داری کے شایانِ شان اہتمام سے وہ مقام ایک خاص درخشندگی سے جگمگا اٹھا۔
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights atithya-dharma (the duty of honoring guests): when hospitality is properly performed and worthy persons are respectfully seated, the very place becomes auspicious and radiant—suggesting that ethical conduct sanctifies space.
After the hosts complete the formalities of welcoming and honoring guests, the two individuals sit on seats. Their settled presence, together with the completed hospitality, makes the setting appear especially splendid.
