Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

स्वप्नकामो न लभते स्वप्तुं कार्यार्थिभिर्जन: । शयने चाप्यनुज्ञात: सुप्त उत्थाप्यतेडवश:,वह सोना चाहता है, परंतु कार्यार्थी मनुष्योंद्वारा घिरा रहनेके कारण सोने नहीं पाता। शय्यापर सोये हुए राजाको भी लोगोंके अनुरोधसे विवश होकर उठना पड़ता है

svapna-kāmo na labhate svaptuṁ kāryārthibhir janaḥ | śayane cāpy anu-jñātaḥ supta utthāpyate ’vaśaḥ ||

جو سونا چاہتا ہے وہ کام لے کر آنے والوں کے ہجوم میں گھرا رہنے کے سبب سو نہیں پاتا۔ بستر پر لیٹنے کی اجازت مل جانے پر بھی، سوئے ہوئے آدمی کو دوسروں کی درخواست پر بے بسی سے پھر جگا دیا جاتا ہے۔
