Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

इदं मे स्यादिदं नेति द्वन्द्वैर्मुक्तस्य मैथिल । कासि कस्य कुतो वेति वचनै: कि प्रयोजनम्‌,मिथिलानरेश! “यह मुझे प्राप्त हो जाय, यह न हो।' इत्यादि रूपसे जो द्वन्द्धवविषयक चिन्ता प्राप्त होती है, उससे यदि आप मुक्त हैं तो “आप कौन हैं? किसकी हैं? अथवा कहाँसे आयी हैं?” इन वचनोंद्वारा प्रश्न करनेसे आपका कया प्रयोजन है?

idaṃ me syād idaṃ neti dvandvair muktasya maithila | kāsi kasya kuto veti vacanaiḥ ki prayojanam mithilānareśa ||

بھیشم نے کہا—اے مَیتھِل راجا! اگر تم ‘یہ مجھے مل جائے، یہ نہ ملے’ جیسے دوئی کے خیالوں سے آزاد ہو، تو پھر ‘تم کون ہو؟ کس کی ہو؟ کہاں سے آئی ہو؟’ ایسے الفاظ سے پوچھنے کا کیا مقصد ہے؟
