Akṣara–Kṣara Viveka: Vasiṣṭha–Karāla-Janaka Saṃvāda (अक्षर-क्षर विवेकः)

स्वयं कृत्वा तु यः पापं शुभमेवानुतिष्ठति । प्रायश्षित्तं नर: कर्तुमुभयं सो$श्ुते पूृथक्‌,जो स्वयं जान-बूझकर पाप करनेके पश्चात्‌ उसके प्रायश्ित्तके उद्देश्यसे शुभ कर्मका अनुष्ठान करता है, वह शुभ और अशुभ दोनोंका पृथक्‌-पृथक्‌ फल भोगता है

svayaṃ kṛtvā tu yaḥ pāpaṃ śubham evānutiṣṭhati | prāyaścittaṃ naraḥ kartuṃ ubhayaṃ so 'śnute pṛthak ||

جو آدمی خود جان بوجھ کر گناہ کرے، پھر کفّارے کی نیت سے نیک عمل انجام دے، وہ نیکی اور بدی—دونوں کا پھل الگ الگ بھگتتا ہے۔
