अध्याय २८१ — दानधर्मः, न्यायागतधनम्, ऋणत्रय-परिशोधनं च
Dāna ethics, lawful wealth, and settling obligations
ततो विमुच्य देवेन्द्र ब्रह्म॒वध्या युधिष्ठिर । यथा विसृष्टं तं वासमगमद् देवशासनात्
tato vimucya devendra brahmavadhyā yudhiṣṭhira | yathā visṛṣṭaṃ taṃ vāsaṃ agamad devaśāsanāt ||
بھیشم نے کہا—“اے یُدھشٹھِر! پھر برہماہتیا دیوراج اندر کو چھوڑ کر، دیوی حکم کے مطابق، اُن ٹھکانوں کی طرف چلی گئی جو پہلے مقرر کیے گئے تھے؛ اور اندر اس داغ سے آزاد ہو گیا۔”
भीष्म उवाच
Moral fault binds even the powerful; release from grave sin (brahmahatyā) is not arbitrary but occurs through rightful authority and in accordance with dharma, emphasizing accountability and the ordered process of expiation.
Bhīṣma tells Yudhiṣṭhira that Indra is freed from the personified taint of brahmahatyā, and that the sin, by divine command, departs to the abodes previously allotted to it.
