चुलाधार उवाच वक्ष्यामि जाजले वृत्तिं नास्मि ब्राह्मण नास्तिक: । न यज्ञंच विनिन्दामि यज्ञवित्‌ तु सुदुर्लभ:,तुलाधारने कहा--जाजले! मैं तुम्हें हिंसातिरिक्त जीविका-वृत्ति बताऊँगा। ब्राह्मणदेव! मैं नास्तिक नहीं हूँ और न यज्ञकी ही निन्दा करता हूँ; परंतु यज्ञके यथार्थ स्वरूपको समझनेवाला पुरुष अत्यन्त दुर्लभ है

culādhāra uvāca | vakṣyāmi jājale vṛttiṃ nāsmi brāhmaṇa nāstikaḥ | na yajñaṃ ca vinindāmi yajñavit tu sudurlabhaḥ ||

چُلا دھار نے کہا—اے جاجلی! میں تمہیں ایسی روزی کی راہ بتاؤں گا جو ہنسا سے پاک ہو۔ اے برہمن! میں ناستک نہیں ہوں اور نہ یَجْن کی مذمت کرتا ہوں؛ مگر یَجْن کے حقیقی تَتْو کو جاننے والا مرد نہایت ہی نایاب ہے۔
