Ahiṃsā as the Superior Dharma: Practical and Scriptural Reasoning
ततस्तामब्रवीत् तत्र लोकानां प्रभवाप्यय: । किमिदं वर्तते पुत्रि क्रियतां मम तद् वच:
tatas tām abravīt tatra lokānāṃ prabhavāpyayaḥ | kim idaṃ vartate putri kriyatāṃ mama tad vacaḥ ||
تب برہما—جو تمام جہانوں کے ظہور اور فنا کا سبب ہے—نے وہیں اس کنیا سے کہا: “بیٹی، یہ تم کیا کر رہی ہو؟ میرے حکم کی تعمیل کرو۔”
पितामह उवाच
The verse emphasizes alignment with rightful authority and cosmic order: Brahmā, as guardian of creation’s order, checks improper action and directs the maiden to follow a corrective instruction.
Brahmā encounters a maiden engaged in some troubling or improper act; he questions her conduct (“What are you doing?”) and issues a direct command to comply with his instruction.
