भीष्म उवाच इति तेनानुयुक्त: स तमुवाच महातपा: । महद्वाक्यमसंदिग्धं पुष्कलार्थपर्द शुचि,भीष्मजी कहते हैं--राजन्‌! देवलके इस प्रकार प्रश्न करनेपर महातपस्वी जैगीषव्यने उनसे इस प्रकार संदेहरहित, प्रचुर अर्थका बोधक, पवित्र और उत्तम वचन कहा

bhīṣma uvāca iti tenānuyuktaḥ sa tam uvāca mahātapāḥ | mahadvākyam asaṃdigdhaṃ puṣkalārtha-pradaṃ śuci ||

بھیشم نے کہا—اے راجن! یوں سوال کیے جانے پر اس مہاتپسوی جَیگیشویہ نے دیول سے ایسے کلمات کہے جو وزنی، بے شبہ، پاکیزہ اور معنی سے لبریز تھے—اور جو درست طرزِ عمل کی رہنمائی کرتے تھے۔
