This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: its function is to formally close the chapter and locate it within the Mahābhārata’s structure—Śānti Parva, Mokṣa-dharma section—framing the preceding material as a liberation-oriented ethical instruction delivered through the Bali–Indra dialogue and reported by Bhīṣma.
The text signals the end of the 227th chapter, identifying that the just-concluded episode belongs to the conversation between Bali and Vāsava (Indra) within Mokṣa-dharma. It serves as an editorial boundary marker in the Gītā Press tradition, indicating that Bhīṣma’s discourse has completed this chapter’s unit.
