As a colophon, the verse primarily marks the completion of a Mokṣa-dharma teaching unit: it frames the preceding instruction as a formal dialogue (saṃvāda) between Śakra and Namuci, situating it within Bhīṣma’s broader ethical and liberation-oriented counsel in the Śānti Parva.
This is the chapter-ending formula announcing that the discourse titled “Śakra–Namuci Dialogue” has concluded, and it identifies its placement: Śānti Parva → Mokṣa-dharma section → Adhyāya 226.
