न हिंसयति यो जन्तून्‌ मनोवाक्कायहेतुभि: । जीवितार्थापनयनै: प्राणिभिर्न स हिंस्यते,जो मनुष्य मन, वाणी और शरीररूपी साधनोंद्वारा प्राणियोंकी हिंसा नहीं करता, उसकी भी जीवन और अर्थका नाश करनेवाले हिंसक प्राणी हिंसा नहीं करते हैं

na hiṁsayati yo jantūn manovākkāyahetubhiḥ | jīvitārthāpanayanaiḥ prāṇibhir na sa hiṁsyate ||

بھیشم نے کہا—جو شخص من، گفتار اور جسم کے ذریعے جانداروں کو ایذا نہیں دیتا، اسے وہ درندہ صفت مخلوقات بھی ایذا نہیں دیتیں جو ورنہ جان اور روزی چھین لینے والی ہوتی ہیں۔
