Sahadeva on Attachment (mamatā), ‘mameti/na mameti’, and the Middle Path of Conduct

बाहाद्रव्यविमुक्तस्य शारीरेष्वनुगृध्यत: । यो धर्मो यत्‌ सुखं वा स्याद्‌ द्विषतां तत्‌ तथास्तु नः,बाहरी द्रव्योंसे दूर होकर दैहिक सुख-भोगोंमें आसक्त रहनेवालेको जो धर्म अथवा जो सुख प्राप्त होता हो, वह उस रूपमें हमारे शत्रुओंको ही मिले

bāhādravyavimuktasya śārīreṣv anugṛdhyataḥ | yo dharmo yat sukhaṃ vā syād dviṣatāṃ tat tathāstu naḥ ||

سہدیَو نے کہا—جو بیرونی مال و متاع سے بے نیاز ہو کر بھی جسمانی لذتوں سے چمٹا رہے، اسے جو بھی ‘دھرم’ یا جو بھی خوشی حاصل ہو، وہ اسی صورت میں ہمارے دشمنوں ہی کو ملے—ہمیں نہیں۔
