Āśā-prabhava (आशाप्रभव) — On the Rise and Power of Hope/Expectation

Sumitra Itihāsa Begins

धृतराष्ट उवाच किमर्थ तप्यसे पुत्र श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्त्वत: । श्र॒ुत्वा त्वामनुनेष्यामि यदि सम्यग्‌ भविष्यति,धृतराष्ट्र बोले--बेटा! तुम किसलिये संतप्त हो रहे हो? यह मैं ठीक-ठीक सुनना चाहता हूँ, सुनकर यदि उचित होगा तो तुम्हें समझानेका प्रयत्न करूँगा

dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca kimarthaṁ tapyase putra śrotum icchāmi tattvataḥ | śrutvā tvām anuneṣyāmi yadi samyag bhaviṣyati ||

دھرتراشٹر نے کہا—“بیٹے، تم کس وجہ سے اس قدر غم میں جل رہے ہو؟ میں اس کی حقیقت صاف صاف سننا چاہتا ہوں۔ سن کر اگر مناسب ہوا تو میں تمہیں سمجھا کر سنبھالنے کی کوشش کروں گا۔”
