Daṇḍotpatti-kathana (Origin and Function of Daṇḍa) — वसुहोम–मान्धातृ संवाद
भर्तप्रत्यय उत्पन्नो व्यवहारस्तथापर: । तस्माद् यः स हितो दृष्टो भर्तप्रत्ययलक्षण:
bhartapratyaya utpanno vyavahāras tathāparaḥ | tasmād yaḥ sa hito dṛṣṭo bhartapratyayalakṣaṇaḥ ||
بھیشم نے کہا— مالک/اختیار پر قائم اعتماد سے بھی ایک طرح کی عدالتی کارروائی پیدا ہوتی ہے، اور وہ مدّعی و مدّعا علیہ کے جھگڑے سے اٹھنے والی کارروائی سے جدا ہے۔ لہٰذا ایسے اعتماد کی بنیاد پر دیا گیا فیصلہ یا دَṇḍ ‘بھرتṛ-پرتیَیَ-لکشَṇ’ کہلاتا ہے؛ اور اسے تمام جہان کے لیے مفید سمجھا گیا ہے۔
