शकुनिरुवाच यदि मां नाभिशंकध्वं विभज्यात्मानमात्मना | ततोऊहं व: प्रवक्ष्यामि याथातथ्यं हितं॑ वच:,पक्षीने कहा--यदि आपलोग मुझपर संदेह न करें तो मैं स्वयं ही अपने आपको वक्ताके रूपमें विभक्त करके आपलोगोंको यथावत्रूपसे हितकी बात बताऊँगा

śakunir uvāca yadi māṁ nābhiśaṅkadhvaṁ vibhajyātmānam ātmanā | tato ’haṁ vaḥ pravakṣyāmi yāthātathyaṁ hitaṁ vacaḥ ||

شکُنی بولا—اگر تم مجھ پر شک نہ کرو، تو میں اپنے ہی اندر اپنے آپ کو (گویا) خطیب بنا کر تم سے ایسے کلمات کہوں گا جو حقیقت کے مطابق اور تمہارے لیے مفید ہوں۔
