Measured Policy and the Recognition of Malicious Disposition

अमित्रमुपसेवेत विश्वस्तवदविश्वसन्‌ । प्रियमेव वदेन्नित्यं नाप्रियं किंचिदाचरेत्‌,भीतरसे विश्वास न करते हुए भी बाहरसे विश्वस्त पुरुषकी भाँति अपना भाव प्रदर्शित करते हुए शत्रुकी सेवा करे। सदा उससे प्रिय वचन ही बोले, कभी कोई अप्रिय बर्ताव न करे

amitrām upaseveta viśvastavad aviśvasan | priyam eva vaden nityaṁ nāpriyaṁ kiñcid ācaret ||

بھیشم نے کہا— دل میں بھروسا نہ رکھتے ہوئے بھی باہر سے بھروسہ مند آدمی کی طرح دشمن کی خدمت کرے۔ ہمیشہ اسی کے لیے خوشگوار بات کہے اور کبھی کوئی ناخوشگوار عمل نہ کرے۔
