Śalya Installed as Commander; Coalition Agreement and Battle Arrays (शल्यसेनापत्यारोहणं व्यूहवर्णनं च)
मद्रराजो महाराज सिंहद्विरदविक्रम: । विचरिष्यत्यभी: काले काल: क्रुद्ध: प्रजास्विव,इति सत्य ब्रवीम्येष दुर्योधन न संशय: । “मैं रणभूमिमें कुन्तीके सभी पुत्रों और सामने आये हुए सोमकोंपर भी विजय प्राप्त कर लूँगा। इसमें भी संदेह नहीं कि मैं तुम्हारा सेनापति होऊँगा और ऐसे व्यूहका निर्माण करूँगा, जिसे शत्रु लाँघ नहीं सकेंगे। दुर्योधन! यह मैं तुमसे सच्ची बात कहता हूँ। इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है” “महाराज! सिंह और हाथीके समान पराक्रमी मद्रराज शल्य प्रलयकालमें प्रजापर कुपित हुए कालके समान निर्भय होकर रणभूमिमें विचरेंगे

سنجے نے کہا—اے عظیم بادشاہ! مدر کے راجا شلیہ، جس کی دلیری شیر اور ہاتھی جیسی ہے، میدانِ جنگ میں بےخوف یوں گھومے گا جیسے فنا کے وقت مخلوقات پر غضبناک زمانہ (کال)۔ اے دُریودھن! میں تم سے یہ بات سچ کہتا ہوں—اس میں کوئی شک نہیں۔
