वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the sanctity of tīrthas by linking them to divine events: a place becomes ethically and spiritually significant when it is associated with the establishment of cosmic order and rightful authority (here symbolized by Varuṇa’s consecration by the gods).
Vaiśampāyana identifies a particular pilgrimage site named Taijasa and explains its origin-story: in former times, the gods performed Varuṇa’s ritual consecration there, marking the spot as a revered tīrtha.
