Dvaipāyana-hrade Duryodhanasya Māyā — Yudhiṣṭhirasya Dharmoktiḥ (Śalya-parva, Adhyāya 30)
कृतवर्मा, कृपाचार्य, पराक्रमी द्रोणपुत्र अश्वत्थामा तथा मन्दबुद्धि राजा दुर्योधनने उस समय क्या किया? ।।
sañjaya uvāca | samprādravatsu dāreṣu kṣatriyāṇāṁ mahātmanām | vidrute śibire śūnye bhṛśoddhignās trayo rathāḥ ||
سنجے نے کہا—اے راجن! جب بلند ہمت کشتریہ سورماؤں کی بیویاں گھبراہٹ میں بھاگ نکلیں اور سب کے منتشر ہو جانے سے لشکرگاہ سنسان ہو گئی، تب وہ تینوں مہارتھی سخت اضطراب میں مبتلا ہو گئے۔
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how adharma in war produces social and psychological ruin: when violence overwhelms restraint, even noncombatants and family spaces are destabilized, and the remaining warriors act from fear and agitation rather than righteous duty.
Sañjaya reports to the king that the camp has emptied as people flee; the wives of the warriors run in terror, and in that deserted camp the three principal chariot-fighters (contextually the surviving Kaurava champions) become intensely alarmed.
