Educational Q&A

The verse presents a warrior’s fatalistic resolve: retreat is conditioned on accomplishing violent aims, while death is accepted as a path to svarga. It highlights how dharma-language (heaven, warrior duty) can be used to steel oneself ethically toward extreme action.

Kṛpa declares the group’s determination in the aftermath of the great war: they will not turn back until they have killed the Pāñcālas along with the Pāṇḍavas; otherwise they will die in the attempt and be heaven-bound.
