duryodhanasya karṇasya bhīṣmasaindhavayor api | gamayiṣyāmi pañcālān padavīm adya durgamām ||

The verse highlights how, in war, leaders may speak of ‘sending’ others toward a perilous destiny, revealing the ethical collapse that accompanies vengeance and triumphalism. It implicitly warns that glory-seeking and retaliation can turn human lives into instruments, pushing communities toward the same ruin that consumed famed heroes.
Sañjaya reports a declaration of intent: the Pāñcālas are to be driven onto a ‘difficult path,’ likened to the path already associated with major Kaurava champions—Duryodhana, Karṇa, Bhīṣma, and Jayadratha—suggesting the Pāñcālas are being led toward destruction in the continuing aftermath of the Kurukṣetra war.
