Dyūta-āhvāna: Śakuni’s Proposal, Vidura’s Warning, and the Summons of Yudhiṣṭhira
Sabhā-parva 51
ājāneyān hayāc chīghrān ādāyānila-raṁhasaḥ | baliṁ ca kṛtsnam ādāya dvāri tiṣṭhati vāritaḥ ||
The verse highlights how royal order and protocol regulate access even for powerful visitors bearing tribute; it reflects the ethical-political idea that sovereignty is displayed not only through wealth and gifts but through controlled entry, hierarchy, and public recognition.
Duryodhana reports that a visitor has arrived with wind-swift, well-bred horses and a full tribute offering, but is standing at the palace gate because he has been stopped from entering—suggesting crowding and the intense influx of dignitaries at the assembly.
