Śiśupāla-vākya: Bhīṣma-nindā and the ‘Haṃsa’ Exemplum (शिशुपालवाक्यम् — भीष्मनिन्दा, हंसदृष्टान्तः)
बहुश: कथ्यमानानि नरैर्भूय: श्रुतानि मे । जन्मकालसे लेकर अबतक इन बुद्धिमान् श्रीकृष्णके जो-जो चरित्र बहुधा बहुतेरे मनुष्योंद्वारा कहे गये हैं, उन सबको मैंने बार-बार सुना है
bahuśaḥ kathyamānāni narair bhūyaḥ śrutāni me |
بھیشم نے کہا—جنم کے وقت سے لے کر اب تک دانا شری کرشن کے جو جو کارنامے اور واقعات بار بار مختلف لوگوں کی زبان سے بیان ہوتے رہے ہیں، میں نے انہیں بھی بارہا سنا ہے۔
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the value of śravaṇa—reverent listening to accounts of a virtuous and wise person. Repeated hearing from many sources strengthens remembrance, discernment, and moral orientation, especially when the subject is Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s exemplary conduct.
Bhīṣma introduces his familiarity with the widely circulated narratives of Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s life and deeds, stating that he has heard them repeatedly from many people—setting a tone of informed testimony and reverence before further discussion.
