Adhyāya 33: Antarvedī-Samāgama, Arghya-Nirṇaya, and Śiśupāla’s Objection
sarvakāmāś ca kāryantāṃ rasagandhasamanvitāḥ | manorathaprītikarā dvijānāṃ kurusattama ||
The verse highlights a kingly duty of dharma: honoring and supporting Brahmins/ritual guests through generous, well-prepared offerings that genuinely meet their needs and wishes, not merely token gifts.
Vaiśampāyana narrates an instruction to a Kuru leader to arrange a wide variety of fragrant, tasty foods—items people commonly desire—so that the dvijas are pleased and their expectations for hospitality are fulfilled.
