Adhyāya 33: Antarvedī-Samāgama, Arghya-Nirṇaya, and Śiśupāla’s Objection
यजस्वाभीप्सितं यज्ञ मयि श्रेयस्यवस्थिते । नियुद्धक्ष्व त्वं च मां कृत्ये सर्व कर्तास्मि ते वच:
yajasvābhīpsitaṃ yajñaṃ mayi śreyasy avasthite | niyuddhakṣva tvaṃ ca māṃ kṛtye sarvaṃ kartāsmi te vacaḥ ||
“تم اپنے مطلوبہ یَجْن کا آغاز کرو؛ تمہارے شریَس (حقیقی بھلائی) کے لیے میں ہمیشہ آمادہ ہوں۔ جو بھی ضروری کام ہو، اس میں مجھے لگا دو—میں تمہارے تمام احکام بجا لاؤں گا۔”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical readiness to serve: one should undertake action (even demanding duty) with the intention of another’s śreyas—true welfare—expressed through faithful execution of rightful instructions.
A speaker conveys a pledge of support: the addressee is urged to commence a desired sacrifice, while the speaker offers to be employed in any necessary task and to follow all commands, underscoring cooperation around a major ritual undertaking.
