Adhyāya 32: Rājasūya-Dīkṣā and Appointment of Court Offices
kṛtsnaṃ pañcanadaṃ caiva tathaivāmaraparvatam | uttarajyotiṣaṃ caiva tathā divyakaṭaṃ puram ||
The verse highlights the vast scope of political reach by listing regions and cities; ethically, such catalogues in the Mahābhārata often invite reflection on the responsibilities of power—rule is measured not only by conquest or possession but by the capacity to protect and govern justly.
Vaiśampāyana continues a geographical enumeration, naming multiple regions and landmarks—Pañcanada, Amaraparvata, Uttarajyotiṣa, and the city Divyakaṭa—within a broader account that tracks the extent of territories brought under notice/control in the Sabha Parva context.
