yena te saha yoddhavyaṁ sthiro bhava dhanañjaya | paśya cainaṁ samāyuktaṁ rathaṁ karṇasya pāṇḍava ||
The verse emphasizes kṣatriya resolve: when facing a formidable opponent, one must remain steady (sthira) and accept the obligation of battle (yoddhavyam) without wavering—steadfastness as an ethical requirement of one’s role and duty.
Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, highlights that Arjuna is destined to fight Karṇa and urges him to be firm. He points out Karṇa’s chariot as fully prepared, signaling the imminent confrontation and the seriousness of the encounter.
