Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the grim reality of warfare: mutual aggression leads to suffering, confusion, and death. Ethically, it functions as a reminder that even when war is framed as duty, its immediate fruit is widespread anguish and the loss of life.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield where chariots, elephants, cavalry, and infantry—equipped with diverse weapons—collide and strike each other. Wounded fighters stagger, cry out, and collapse dead amid the chaos of combat.
