Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not teach through instruction but through framing: it highlights that the war has become 'saṅkula'—confused and entangled—suggesting an ethical atmosphere where clarity of dharma is hard to maintain and where actions must be judged amid disorder and escalating violence.

Sañjaya signals the formal conclusion of the eighty-first chapter of the Karṇa Parva, specifically within the portion describing the chaotic battle. It functions as a textual boundary rather than a spoken line advancing events.
