iti śrīmahābhārate karṇaparvaṇi saṅkulayuddhe dviṣaṣṭitamo 'dhyāyaḥ

This is a colophon marking the end of a chapter. Its implicit teaching is that even amid the moral confusion of war (saṅkula-yuddha), events are to be recorded with clarity and order, supporting reflection on dharma and responsibility.
The verse does not advance the plot; it formally closes the sixty-second chapter of the Karṇa Parva, identifying the setting as the tumultuous, entangled battle.
