कर्णनिधनश्रवणम् — Hearing of Karṇa’s Fall and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Lament
जयाशा धार्तराष्ट्राणां वैरस्य च मुखं यत:
jayāśā dhārtarāṣṭrāṇāṁ vairasya ca mukhaṁ yataḥ
سنجے نے کہا—اسی سے دھارتراشٹروں میں فتح کی امید پیدا ہوئی، اور اسی سے دشمنی کا دروازہ بھی کھل گیا۔
संजय उवाच
Unchecked hope of victory (jayāśā) in a violent contest can become the very gateway (mukha) to deeper enmity (vaira). The verse highlights how triumphal expectation fuels further hostility, worsening the moral and social rupture of war.
Sañjaya, reporting the battlefield developments to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, notes that a particular event or advantage has strengthened the Kauravas’ confidence of winning, while simultaneously intensifying the feud—setting the stage for harsher conflict.
