Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Collapse and the Lament of the Palace Women
sarva eva bhavantaś ca śaktāḥ pratyekaśo 'pi vā | pāṇḍuputrān raṇe hantuṃ sasainyān kimu saṃhatāḥ ||
The verse underscores the ethical and practical force of unity: if individuals are strong, coordinated action multiplies power. In the war context it functions as exhortation—confidence and cohesion are presented as decisive factors in fulfilling a warrior-host’s chosen aim.
Sanjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, voices an encouragement to the Kaurava side: he asserts that their warriors are each capable of defeating the Pāṇḍavas and their troops, and therefore, when united, they should be even more formidable.
