Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣatriya discipline and the ethical ideal of steadfastness to one’s vow (satya) even amid war: commanders are characterized not only by numbers and arms but also by reliability and resolve in battle.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra the deployment of forces: on the right wing, the warrior Suṣeṇa is positioned, protected and supported by a large contingent—one thousand chariots and three hundred elephants—indicating a strong, organized flank.
