Adhyāya 10: Śrutakarmā’s Engagements; Prativindhya–Citra Duel; Drauṇi Advances toward Bhīma
तेनापि रक्षिता: पार्था: शिष्यत्वादिति मे मति: । स चापि निहतो वृद्धो धृष्टद्युम्नेन सत्वरम्
tenāpi rakṣitāḥ pārthāḥ śiṣyatvād iti me matiḥ | sa cāpi nihato vṛddho dhṛṣṭadyumnena satvaram ||
سنجے نے کہا—میری رائے میں اس نے بھی شاگردی کے رشتے کے باعث پارتھوں (کنتی کے بیٹوں) کی حفاظت کی۔ مگر وہ بوڑھا آچاریہ بھی دھِرِشتدیومن کے ہاتھوں جلد ہی مارا گیا۔
संजय उवाच
Even amid warfare, prior bonds of dharma—especially the guru–śiṣya relationship—continue to shape conduct; yet the same war can override reverence, bringing swift and tragic consequences when vows and enmities mature.
Sañjaya reflects that the venerable teacher (Droṇa) had also protected the Pāṇḍavas out of regard for them as his disciples, but despite this, he was quickly slain by Dhṛṣṭadyumna.
