The verse foregrounds satya (truthfulness) expressed through ethical speech: sincere acknowledgment of relational duties—reverence like a father, regard like a righteous elder brother, and trust like a friend—showing how dharma is upheld through honest, respectful address.
Sañjaya, while reporting events of the Drona Parva, conveys a statement of deep personal regard: he tells the addressed person that he is as dear and worthy as Pāṇḍu, Yudhiṣṭhira, and Kṛṣṇa, emphasizing that he speaks this as a truthful declaration.
