भीष्मशिबिरगमनम् — Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal

अजानन्नर्जुनश्वापि निहतं पुत्रमौरसम्‌ । जघान समरे शूरान्‌ राज्ञस्तान्‌ भीष्मरक्षिण:,अर्जुनको अपने औरस पुत्र इरावानके मारे जानेका पता नहीं लगा था। वे समरांगणमें भीष्मकी रक्षा करनेवाले शूरवीर नरेशोंका संहार कर रहे थे

sañjaya uvāca |

ajānann arjunaś cāpi nihataṃ putram aurasam |

jaghāna samare śūrān rājñas tān bhīṣma-rakṣiṇaḥ ||

اپنے جائز بیٹے اِراوان کے مارے جانے سے بے خبر ارجن میدانِ جنگ میں بھیشم کی حفاظت کرنے والے اُن بہادر راجاؤں کو پے در پے کاٹتا چلا جا رہا تھا۔
