Book 6, Chapter 61
sañjaya uvāca | ete samaradur-dharṣāḥ siṁha-tulya-parākramāḥ | pāṇḍavānām anīkāni babhañjuḥ sama punaḥ punaḥ ||

The verse underscores the relentless force of seasoned warriors and the fragility of military formations under sustained pressure, highlighting the kṣatriya world where valor and tactical disruption shape outcomes—often beyond individual merit, pointing to the larger momentum of fate and war.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that leading Kaurava-side fighters—such as Bhīṣma and Droṇa, along with Jayadratha and others—are repeatedly breaking the Pāṇḍavas’ battle-arrays, indicating a phase where the Pāṇḍava forces are being pushed back through repeated tactical breaches.
