प्रपतन्तमपश्याम गिरे: शुद्भमिव च्युतम्‌ भीष्मके द्वारा मारे गये नरश्रेष्ठ श्वेतको युद्धस्थलमें हमने देखा। वह टूटकर गिरे हुए पर्वतके समान जान पड़ता था

prapatantam apaśyāma gireḥ śubhram iva cyutam | bhīṣmake dvārā māre gaye naraśreṣṭha śvetako yuddhasthale meṃ hamne dekhā | vaha ṭūṭakara gire hue parvatake samān jān paṛtā thā |

ہم نے رزمگاہ میں نر-شریشٹھ شویت کو دیکھا جو بھیشم کے ہاتھوں مارا گیا تھا اور گرتا چلا گیا۔ وہ یوں معلوم ہوتا تھا جیسے پہاڑ سے ٹوٹ کر گرا ہوا روشن سفید چوٹی کا ٹکڑا ہو۔
