Bhīṣma-nipāta-saṃvāda — Sañjaya’s Report of Bhīṣma’s Fall (भीष्मनिपातसंवादः)

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical and psychological force of dharmic strength: when a just cause is backed by disciplined power, it can unsettle opponents. The simile of 'kālāgni' suggests inevitability—once the conditions for war mature, its consuming momentum becomes hard to resist.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield atmosphere: the Pāṇḍavas’ immense army stands fully prepared, and its terrifying readiness causes the opposing side to tremble and become repeatedly agitated.
